Registration: Conflict Management course

  • A basic understanding of conflicts and conflict management
  • Insight into which forms of communication escalate conflicts, and which forms of communication can help prevent, de-escalate and resolve conflicts
  • Greater awareness of your own typical reactions in conflict situations and how you can respond more constructively

Introduction to the workshop

The workshop will give you knowledge and inspiration you can use to manage conflicts constructively in your work and in your life in general.
Conflicts arise wherever people do things together that matter to them, and trying to avoid them is pointless, because you cannot.
In the workplace, conflicts can lead to collaboration problems, stress and poor well being, which happens far too often. Fortunately, it does not have to be that way.
If you learn to handle conflicts constructively, you can prevent them from spinning out of control. You can reduce the negative outcome of conflicts when (not if) they happen, and when you manage them constructively, conflicts can often (but not always) lead to strengthened working relationships and new solutions to shared challenges.

Purpose

The purpose of the workshop is to help you become better at managing conflicts constructively, whether you are directly involved in a conflict (when you have a conflict with someone) or indirectly involved in a conflict (for example between two of your colleagues).
Since the same basic dynamics apply to all conflicts, what you gain from the workshop will be just as useful and valuable in your private life as in your working life.

Format

The workshop is highly practical.

The instructor will introduce theoretical knowledge and models. But the focus throughout the workshop is the participants’ own experiences and challenges related to conflicts, since this is the most effective way for them to ‘translate’ the theory and relate it to their own lives, and thus to gain knowledge and insights they can apply in real life after the workshop.
